It seemed like the perfect place to set up World Book Night headquarters. Next year, I might try something a little more daring--like the M&M bar at 2:30 in the morning.David Abramshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06013514596973186440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8407679229975998493.post-25528373889822256872012-04-30T20:05:34.240-06:002012-04-30T20:05:34.240-06:00I am a dispaced Montanan, living in Minnesota. I will buy my own copy because your description is so compelling. And long live the book - I guess you could have handed out little cards for free downloads to Kindle...but that's just not the same.Jeanne Doney-Rittersonhttp://www.linkedin.com/in/jeannerittersonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8407679229975998493.post-16847667275933880132012-04-30T12:38:57.633-06:002012-04-30T12:38:57.633-06:00Thanks for sharing your Alaskan WBN experience on ...Thanks for sharing your Alaskan WBN experience on your charming island (I spent a week there with the U.S. Army for the Alaska Day festivities about 12 years ago and fell in love with Sitka). Sounds like you had a great time up there handing out books! Man, next year, I need to add a mandolin player. Maybe even a tuba to oom-pah-pah potential readers on the streets of Butte.David Abramshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06013514596973186440noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8407679229975998493.post-66128610591516785982012-04-30T12:28:20.443-06:002012-04-30T12:28:20.443-06:00Wonderful - thanks for being there in that Starbuc...Wonderful - thanks for being there in that Starbucks, and for sharing the story of your World Book Night experience! We had a great time here in Sitka, AK, where the book bus made stops at all of the harbors, bars, and grocery stores in town. Librarians, booksellers, and book-lovers filed out at every stop, arms full of freebies, and they even had a jaunty mandolin player to add to the festivities. I'm already looking forward to next year, and just added "Peace" to my summer list - thanks for that!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
