Welcome to Trailer Park Tuesday, a showcase of new book trailers and, in a few cases, previews of book-related movies. Unless their last name is Grisham or King, authors will probably never see their trailers on the big screen at the local cineplex. And that's a shame because a lot of hard work goes into producing these short marriages between book and video. So, if you like what you see, please spread the word and help these videos go viral.
As the publisher's synopsis for The Unruly Passions of Eugenie R. by Carole DeSanti states, "Love, war, and commerce converge in this lush, epic story of a woman who follows her love to Paris, only to find herself marooned, pregnant, and penniless. Set around France's Second Empire, where absinthe, prostitution, vast wealth, and cataclysmic social upheaval abound, this novel delicately explores the contrary requirements of a woman's survival." Though some of the text in the trailer flies by too quickly for me, I am magnetically drawn to that image of the back of the woman's neck--the cover design which the video integrates so well. Eugenie has turned away from us; but by doing so, she beckons us to follow.
