This week's book giveaway is a copy of Elizabeth Buchan's new novel, Separate Beds. Buchan (author of Revenge of the Middle-Aged Woman, The Good Wife Strikes Back, The Second Wife, and a bunch of other books--not all of them with wifely women in the title) is a British author who has been praised for her wry wit and piercing portraits of contemporary marriages. Separate Beds was first published in the UK and is just now making its way over here to America. Here's the publisher's synopsis of the novel:
Tom and Annie's children have grown up, the mortgage is do-able and they're about to get a kitchen make-over. Life is good--or so it seems. Beneath the veneer of professional success and domestic security, their marriage is crumbling, eaten away by years of resentment, loneliness, and misunderstandings, and they've settled into simply being two strangers living under the same roof. Then the economy falls apart, and suddenly their lives are upended when Tom loses his job. As their world shrinks, Tom and Annie are forced closer together. For the first time in years, their home is filled with people, conversation, tears--and laughter. Is it possible, they ask themselves, to start again?
For a chance at winning a copy of Separate Beds, all you have to do is answer this question:
According to Buchan's website, what was her job at Penguin Books that required "the hide of a rhinoceros, a nimble mind, and the occasional box of tissues"?

Put FRIDAY FREEBIE in the e-mail subject line. One entry per person, please. Please e-mail me the answer, rather than posting it in the comments section. Despite its name, the Friday Freebie runs all week long and remains open to entries until the contest closes at midnight on March 24--at which time I'll draw the winning name. I'll announce the lucky reader on March 25.
