Memo From Fobbit Headquarters

Here are a few scraps of miscellany which might be of interest to Fobbit fans:

1.  Bookplates: I now have a couple dozen bookplates (pictured above) which I'm happy to sign and mail to those readers who were unable to get an in-person signature at any of the readings or other events on the Fobbit book tour last Fall.  Just drop me a line if you'd like one of these puppies signed (either personalized or just an autograph) and sent your way.


2.  Tournament of Books: The results of the pre-tournament play-in have been announced and Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk effectively TKO'ed Fobbit and The Yellow Birds.  Kevin Powers and I will be bandaging our cuts, nursing a whiskey at the bar, and cheering on Ben Fountain as he goes forward in The Morning News' literary death match.  Go, Ben!  Go, Billy!


3.  Upcoming events:  I've added a few new bookstore and festival appearances to the calendar, including readings at Auntie's Bookstore in Spokane, Washington (March 19 at 7 pm) and Rediscovered Books (May 10 at 7:30 pm) in Boise, Idaho.  I'll also be at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 20 (exact time and place to be determined).  Sadly, due to the Los Angeles Times Book Awards ceremony, I've had to cancel my panel with Ben Fountain at the Arkansas Literary Festival (which was scheduled for that same weekend)--but the good news is, we've rescheduled that joint appearance in Little Rock for June 20.  Stay tuned for more details.
